We have rented a small apartment in a neighbourhood in Rome called Trastevere (pronounced "tras-TEH-ve-ray"). Its name comes from the Latin trans Tiberim, meaning literally "beyond the Tiber". All of that means we are about a 10 minute walk to the Tiber River. Beyond the river we have about a 15 minute walk to the colosseum.
The multi-cultural neighbourhood is full of cobbled, irregular, narrow winding streets. Of course, that makes it challenging to find your way. But, there is no shortage of great restaurants making the challenge worth the effort! |
